Downstairs WC reveal {It really is quite a transformation!}

I’m so excited to share today’s post! After the downstairs WC was updated with paint and wallpaper over  the Easter holidays, the room now feels energised; so much brighter, airier and overall just a really lovely space. After sharing with you my colour crush for chartreuse {catch up on that post here} I decided to inject a bold dose of the gorgeous golden lime colour into the downstairs WC.

Let me remind you of how it looked before…

The walls were painted in a chalky purple {Sweet Dreams by Crown} I chose this colour based around a canvas from NEXT, brought with us from the apartment which had some gorgeous pink, purple and red tones running through it.

Not an awful lot of thought went into this paint choice and I grew tired of the colour quite quickly. Being a small room with not a lot of natural light, I felt it needed a more zesty colour paired with an off-white to reflect more light around the space. There are already elements in the room which I love; the window style mirror above the basin gives the room much needed depth and the ceiling fitting in brass and cut glass works really well.  I wanted to introduce some more brass and glass and so combined these elements into this mood board which I shared in my last post…

Chartreuse & grey with cut glass and brass

I think all of the elements have pulled together really well and the scheme is now fresh, clean and bright feeling!

I’m really happy with my paint choice. Crown’s Sail White, an off white with just a whisper of grey, perfectly sets off the chartreuse wallpaper! Despite the swallows design being circa 1930s, the chartreuse background gives a modern, uplifting edge – the perfect balance of old and new which I love. I cannot stress how beautiful this colour is in real life! Such a perfect, soft, muted shade of golden lime. I’m in love!

It was pretty excruciating handing over £20 for a toilet brush but isn’t it gorgeous? Solid marble with a wood and brass handle plus the lid is plastic so it won’t rust like metal ones. Although I splurged on the toilet brush, I did manage to save elsewhere such as picking up a hand towel from Asda for a mere £2 and it’s a gorgeous shade of soft grey which compliments the wallpaper and tiles perfectly {I also picked up some bags of mini eggs reduced to 25p, I was so happy after that particular shopping trip!}

The soap dispenser was a last minute addition from H & M Home. I’ve got through many soap dispensers as the ones with metal pumps seem to deteriorate so quickly. This one however has a plastic pump so I’m hoping it will last much longer! {I also bought another two for the other bathrooms so H & M, I’m counting on you!}

I’m so glad it’s peony season! How wonderfully do they pop in here?

This old wooden apple crate is the perfect storage for towels.
